Physical exercise with suitable mechanical stress on the joints benefits joint flexibility and mobility. Physical exercise maintains and improves muscle strength and endurance around joints, increases the mobility of joints as well as enhances the health of joint cartilage. Exercise like walking, cycling, water exercise, swimming and cross-country skiing are considered the best activity for joints. The recommendation for exercise is 30 minutes 3–5 times a week.
Cartilage has a protective role in joint mobility. Cartilage covers the ends of the bones serving as a cushion between the bones of the joint. The structure of cartilage consists of fibrous collagen, matrix protein and hyaluronic acid. Chondrocytes, cells of cartilage, build new cartilage proteins and joint-lubricating synovial fluid from glucosamine and chondroitin sulfate which are naturally existing substances in the body. Also sulphur is a component in the protein structure. Vitamin C is needed as vitamin C contributes to normal collagen formation for the normal function of cartilage.
Glucosamin Plus contains glucosamine, chondroitin sulfate, organic sulphur MSM (methyl sulphonyl methane) and vitamin C. Glucosamine is derived from crustacean, chondroitin from porcine cartilage.
